discover Asia with drunken malaysians

hi how's your weekend going? Last night was Friday night, so my Malaysian friends ( more than 8 people..?? I cannot remember cos there were so many of them!!) , Hannah and I got together at Richo common room and had drink together.

I haven't met any Malaysian people until I came here (...no, I think I actually know one Malaysian in my home university..)but now I'm meeting tons of them since Monash Uni has a campus in Malaysia and we have a lot of inter campus students from there. Anyway, so it is very special for me to get to know those people, and also to learn their culture. The most interesting thing so far is that they speak English( actually English is the first language for most of them) but they often say "...la" at the end of the sentence. One of them taught me that, and then I understood why they don't sound like English sometimes..! They are all very nice and last night was fun, too.
I'm still discovering a lot of new cultures every day.

Just like any other weekend

hi, how's your weekend? My weekend wasn't very exciting..:-( My friends and I were going to the city this weekend for Osaka Festival, but because of the bad rainy weather on Saturday, we ended up not going. So, no exciting news for u guys..sorry!

Instead I've been working on my two assignments for entire weekend, but they aren't also going very well. Well I feel like I'm really stuck for everything at the moment. Study is getting even more harder than I 've expected. But yah, I know I can only keep going; that's why I' m here.

Btw, I cooked really well tonight..it's "omu-rice with Japanese cream stew":D! Some of my floor people were all curious when I was cooking omelet..haha. Anyway, that was pretty good!
hope u all enjoyed your weekend!

This week

Hi, how are u doing? I'm sorry, I've been really busy this week since my first assignment is due on next week so I didn't have time to update here.
Well, this week was pretty much nothing, just uni. As I said I have two assignments both due on next week, and I've been struggling with them so far. I guess I still really need to work hard on the weekend. Well, that's uni life:-((

Friday is easy day for me since I only have one tutorial in the morning, so I met Joni at lunch time and had nice chat for a couple of hours at the campus. Today was also extremely hot day..35 degrees!!! The weather has been pretty crazy these couple of days. After having nice talk with Joni, I helped my friend Sho to choose a nice sunny (sun glass in OZ english..haha) at the market outside. That was fun, nice Friday afternoon:-)
Look forward to a little more exciting update on the weekend!

Good stuff

Yesterday my neighbours, Nathan,Samantha and I went to IKEA in Richmond. I was pretty excited to go since I was still looking for some stuff which will make my room more furnished.

Before we took the tram to Richmond, Nathan took us to the nice international secondhand book shop near the Flinders station. They had lots of books for different languages and it was so fascinating for me. Well, I wish I could speak more languages..maybe at least three?? Also we walked through the Degraves street where many fancy small cafes are. The place looked like somewhere in Europe, but also very busy and packed with bunch of people. I fell in love with the place so I'll definitely come back there.

At IKEA, I think we did great shopping. I needed a desk lamp for my study, and found a really cute one!!!!! It was sooo adorable:) What's more, everything was really cheap and the lamp cost only 16bucks! I also got a small plant and some cooking utensils for reasonable price. We stayed there until the last minutes, and we all spend quite a lot of money...but I think we did good shopping:P ! Samantha found a nice picture which really suits her room, and Nathan got a red room lamp for himself . Now his room looks like a night bar..Lol!!! Anyway, our rooms are now so organized and look much more homey haha:)

Btw, yesterday was exactly 1 month since I came here.... fast!

my new desk lamp&plant....cute:)

....Food, more food, and running

Look at the pics! Well, today I cooked Japanese curry and invited some international friends. It was my first time cooking here but hopefully it all went well....yummmmm!!! My friends loved it, too:) I hope they'll cook for me next time so I can enjoy the cuisine from all over the world..haha.

Today I had a class in the morning and in the afternoon I went to Clayton with my friend to do some grocery shopping for tonight. I saw some Asian grocery stores there and they made me miss Japanese food:-(

...Oops! I'm only talking about food today....bad lol!!!!!!! But u know what! I finally started running here ( honestly, I used to run almost every day in Japan) . Lots of my friends from our hall also run and we formed the group called ' The Joy of Running' which is exclusive to Howitt residents:p . Its nice to have someone who can run together so I can discipline myself ..( I sometimes make myself an excuse of not going.. but everyone does, right?).

Have a nice weekend! xoxo

random notes

Hi what's up mate? How's ur weekend? Actually I'm struggling with finding an exciting topic since last week...so sorry.

Classes were harder than what I've expected, and we have just so much readings. Well I can't complain... I just need to work hard! They were however all very interesting and professors seemed all unique. Actually one of my tutors from Visual culture class is working at NGV, the museum which I loved(.. see my last Saturday update). How excitin!

Also today was " Clean up Australia Day", so I joined the cleaning up activity this afternoon. I felt much better after we finished cleaning up. Well, I think Australia is still dominated by throwaway culture..I'm always surprised the number of plastic bags I've got every time I came back from shopping. Also trash bins on campus are always flooded with all those plastic containers or paper bags from our lunch. People here are really conscious about saving water since Australia normally does not have much rain, but I feel like they are still less conscious about recycling or other environmental issues. Well I probably should better introduce Japanese " mottainai" concept to them.

today's pics are my amazing neighbors, Nathan and Samantha:) They were cooking for themselves!!! Well I've NEVER cooked since I came here....I'm too lazy. But I better start cooking, since food is pretty expensive on campus. But then I need to get some utensils first..lol!

Chao:)!xxx
