Three different cultures, with one common appetite

Recently I often think how fortunate I am having such a nice people around. Both Joni and Ash are probably the closest friends here for me now, and I always have a great time with them. Some of you guys saw my pictures and may have thought that I'm just partying around a lot here, but to tell the truth I would rather go out for dinner with small group of friends on the weekend and have a long nice chat with them. This is what I like to do rather than clubbing or drinking every weekend. Maybe I'm really girly in that sense.

Anyway we had dinner at Indian restaurant and yah food was just so nice... we ate too much again;p By the way Ash is actually from Singapore but she is now local student here in Australia. She is very caring and sweet girl. We are both pretty busy and don't see each other so often but I somehow feel very connected to her. We always have good time when we meet. Also Joni ( you might know her well now since I keep talking about her! ) is always very nice. She just makes me laugh all

the time and also we talk everything. She is now very important part of my life here.

Japan, Germany and Singapore. We came from three totally different backgrounds, but probably it didn't really matter for us tonight with those Indian curry and Indian people sitting around us..what a multicultural experience!

Have a good weekend

Monday sushi night @Caulfield

Yesterday night, I visited my friends in Caulfield. Those girls( Sumita and Kay from Holland, and Reina from Waseda university) are my first friends here in Australia but they are all living together at the international mews near the Caulfield campus( I live in Clayton campus), and we haven't been able to see each other after the orientation week. So it was great to catch up with them after two months of time. Alot of talk and also alot of sushi...we ate WAY too much. haha. But the night was just so much fun, and I had such a great time with them . I wish I could visit them more often. Thank you girls;-)

By the way, tomorrow is Anzac Day, so I can hear many people partying downstairs...but unfortunately I have two big assignments coming up and it's gonna be a study day tomorrow. Well, life is always tough!

Good nite.

Prahran

hi, what's up? Sorry it has been a week since last update. I should have tons of stories to tell you about my holiday in Warrnambool , but unfortunately my trip had been delayed for personal reason. So I've been staying at hall as usual and working on my assignments. Howitt is almost empty for the week since most of Australian students went home, and lots of internationals had also gone travelling ( Queensland, Sydney, Cairns...even for New Zealand!I'm so jealous..!). So it has been a very quiet week. I however, have been enjoying my holiday here somehow. I feel like everything has finally started to come along, especially my study. Fortunately my neighbours were also staying here during the holiday and they've been giving me a great help for my study. Plus it seems like we are getting to know each other even better. We just talk and share whatever news we have when we see each other at the kitchen or corrdior, and it sometimes lasts for hours. I'm so fortunate to have such a great company around me. Thank u Nathan and Sam!

Okay here I have to inform you of what I've achieved in my to-do list before.
・I've done one of my assignments( still one more to go!)
・ I've been able to stay away from chocolates and any sweets for last five days
・ I set up TV on my computer ( I can even watch NHK!)
・ I found nice place to go shopping in Melbourne and surrounding areas
・ I replied to all emails from my friends
・I'm making a little progress on my study( still on the way, though!)
・I went to hair dresser today!!!! feeling much better.

...hum, it looks like I've done quite well, haven't I ?? Yah I went to Prahran today to have hair cut ( there is a Japanese hair dresser..it was so-so) . I got there earlier so I wandered around the place. There were lots of designer's and vintage clothes shops...well, no wonder,I absolutely loved the place. It wasn't big, but they HAVE good stuff there. Well I'll keep pioneering good place to shop in Melbourne okay.

Sorry, long post but not many pictures today. Thanks for keeping company!

South Yarra, the place of posh Melbournians!

Yesterday even after the long nightclubbing and not enough sleep( maybe I only had a hour sleep) I went to the South Yarra by myself to find a dress for the upcoming boat cruise party. The weather was awesome yesterday and coming to South Yarra was one of the things I was looking forward to during the break so I wasn't feeling any more tired once I got there. I almost fell asleep on the train though..

I looked around every single shop on Chapel street and finally I found a nice casual dress. Well the place was definitely the capital of Melbourne fashion scene! There were just thousands of nice and expensive shops and cafes, and keeping myself away from the wallet was toughest thing to do.

I ended up spending my entire afternoon there, but it wasn't still enough to see everything. I'll come back there soon!

Night with Shibuya Gals and midnight city hunt

On Friday night I was unexpectedly asked my friend to go out since there was some Japanese gathering event in the city on that night, so three of us, Hannah, Sho and I caught the last train and headed down to the midnight city. By the way, Hannah is American, but she spent most of her life (16 years) in Japan, so she is actually more Japanese than American. Sho is half Japanese and half Czech, but he was also grown up in Japan until he was 15. So there is no need to tell in which language we were talking that night;-)

The party was quite fun. One of my biggest attraction of that night was Japanese high school girls. Actually they looked so alien in this country, but somehow I wanted to take picture of them and yah, they gave their usual GAL peace sign to the camera lo l!!!!!

We stayed at the club till 2:30 but then realized that there was no night-rider( the midnight bus service to the campus) since it was good Friday so we decided to look for the place to stay until the first train came. We wandered around the midnight city, and it was so much fun!!!!Nobody was on the street....except some police cars. The city was under our domination.

When we finally got back to the hall, it was almost seven in the morning. We were all burned out.

Home

Yesterday I talked with my teacher who has been supporting me since my high school time. I had such a good time talking with him. My neighbour stopped at my room later, and she gave me her time to listen to me. A little later, she brought me a lily.

Today I talked with my sister probably almost for an hour. Lots of laughing, and also lots of nice twin talk made me feel a little better.

Although my phone card runs out so quickly, these time cannot be replaced with anything else.

I'm just so glad to have such people around me, even though some of them are a little far away in geographical sense.

Queen Victoria Market

One of the place I've been looking forward to visiting in Melbourne is Queen Victoria Market. Actually I've been there once long time ago and also been to the Victoria Night Market( see my previous post) , so that means, basically I just like the market and its atmosphere:p Anyway it was our destination today.

Laura, Varun and I left the hall around the noon. After having lunch with interesting cultural conversation( today we had three different nationalities; America, Singapore and Japan) at the Degrave street in the city, we headed for the market. This time the market was quite big, probably twice( or possibly three times) bigger than the one in the evening. They've got all sorts of stuff there; organic vegetable and fruit, cheese, wine, jewelry, clothes and more. We really enjoyed looking around the place but the only thing we couldn't make it today was trying kangaroo burger. That was sad;-(

Instead we had nice gelati and crepes on the way back and filled our appetite. The weather was lovely today and it was also very nice to get out from school work. Such a nice Sunday afternoon.

Hope u all enjoyed your weekend.
